Bokashi Bran
Product Details:
Thanks to Effective Micro-organisms or EMs you can now compost your cooked food and meat waste in your compost bin. This was not previously possible because it attracts animals, rodents and flies.
After a quick stint (around 14 days) in your bokashi bucket your food waste will have been transformed into a compostable state and can be placed into your compost bin.
How the Bokashi bran actually works:
The application of the ‘magic’ Bokashi Bran transforms what would be a putrefaction process into a fermentation process. The Bokashi Bran contains bran, molasses and a pro-biotic mixture containing Effective Micro-organisms. The EM’s are the magic ingredient and contain photosynthetic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, actinomycetes and yeasts. All of these are natural, not genetically modified, and mutually compatible with one another. Together they suppress pathogens, speed-up the composting process and eliminate foul odours.
Complete in just two weeks:
Simply open the lid and drop your kitchen waste into the 18 Litre Bokashi Bucket along with a 'sprinkling' of the Bokashi Bran (2kg is supplied with the bucket, this will last around 4 months). Once the bucket is full, seal the lid and leave to ferment for two weeks. After that the waste can be added to you garden compost or wormery or even applied directly to your garden to provide a highly effective natural fertiliser.
A nutrient rich liquor is also produced as a result of the fermentation process. This can be tapped off every couple of days. The liquor can be used when diluted with water (1:100) as a plant fertiliser. It is safe and environmentally friendly and can be used inside your house or in the garden.
A twin bucket pack is also available to allow one bucket to be in the process of being filled whilst another is in its two-week fermenting process.
Please note: it is recommended that you do not put liquids or dairy products in your Bokashi bucket.
The process works best if the bucket is situated indoors and out of sunlight.
