Because leaves are tough 'brown' organic matter they take years to decompose. They take up valuable space in the compost bin and when other ingredients have broken down into usable compost, the leaves will still be recognisable. It therefore makes sense to let them rot in a seperate container apart from the mainstream compost. This is where the Leaf Composter become so useful. Instead of burning the leaves - which is environmentally unfriendly and also a waste of valuable, reusable organic matter - leave them open to the rain where water can increase the rate of decomposition.

The Leaf Composter has a capacity of 540 litres, comes supplied with support canes and is made from high quality plastic mesh which has a 10 year lifespan.

How do I use leaf mould?
Well decayed leaves make excellent mulch which is great for supressing weeds and helps keep the surface of the soil from drying out.When this mulch is dug into the soil it will improve its physical structure, which in turn makes it more fertile. It can also be added to potting compost or spread on your lawn. Some undecayed leaves can be added to volumes of grass cuttings to balance the breakdown of both and improve the texture of the resulting compost.
